Kasern.

During my childhood and adolescence, the perfect description of a mountain range had always been the Pyrenees: a backbone of high peaks giving way to rugged valleys. Streams winding through narrow gorges and, over the years, quite a lot of tourist overcrowding.

When I discovered the Alps, my vision changed forever. It was a shock. I couldn’t believe such a vast expanse of mountains and valleys. Everything was simply enormous. I felt completely overwhelmed when I first saw sizeable towns nestled in huge valleys guarded by incredibly steep mountains. Naturally, the Alps also have heavily touristic spots (and in a big way), but you can also find magical corners like Kasern, at the foot of the Olperer (3,476 m), a place off the beaten path where time seems to have stopped.
